The most common and aggravating problem is forgetting to SAVE. The solution is to always SAVE before leaving a page you’ve made changes to.
( What would you think if the pages automatically saved unless you Canceled? )
ELEMENTS MENU

ELEMENTS are the “pieces“ or resource of film production. Find them in the ELEMENTS menu at the top of every page.

Scene Editor

Everything about a scene goes here; notes, shot lists, characters, wardrobe, props, location, pages, and more. Start by selecting a scene (or insert one using the Scene List link).

All of those great ideas and critical checkoffs go here. Your team will be looking at this when you shoot, so if you don't want to risk forgetting that small but fabulous detail, let them know about it here.

BRolls, who has time for them? You will if you plan for them and know what you need with each scene.

Your Art Director gets his own text box to bring everyone in on their vision.

To add Characters or props or set the location or wardrobe the choices must be in the lists. Edit the lists using their selections in the ELEMENTS menu.

Characters can be added or deleted for each scene. Here is where you pick the wardrobe (from the list you created on the Wardrobe page). This information is included in your Call sheets so actors/wardrobe know what is expected each day.

Shots

Imagining the shots needed to make the most of each scene is one of the really fun parts of pre production. But managing them can be a pain. A feature can have over 500 and even a three minute teaser can have 50. Keep your shots with the scenes they belong with. Even set the order and indicate which characters are in each scene. A great DP can turn your shot list into the scene you dreamed about. These tools leverage your creative energy to manage your film and share your vision.

If you don't have a shot list, double your production time and halve your expectations.

Scene List

Insert and Delete scenes

Inserts happen just before the current scene at that number in the sequence. Locked films use an appended character (A-Z) to mark scene sequences.

Deletes use the ID, not the sequence number. Think three or four digit number.

Clicking on a row takes you to the Scene Editor page with the selected scene loaded.

Locations

Add, Edit, or Delete locations. Cost/Day is a whole number. Owners is the list of People for this film.

Props

Add, Edit, or Delete props. Set the owner from the film's list of Poeple.

Characters

Add, Edit, or Delete characters. Set the actors and an alternate. An enormous amount of data can be categorized for characters. This is a great aid to rewrites. Look at the characters in a scene and spot the unexpected and fun conflicts.

Wardrobe

Add or Edit wardrobes for each character.

People

Add and Edit the list of people making your film. Include contact information, cost/day, and their role(s) in film making. This information is used for sending out call sheets and estimating costs.

Actor summaries provide a quick reference for actors, ADs, wardrobe and everyone else involved with getting your actors ready.

PRODUCTION MENU

Plan the production here. Build your crews and call sheets, track your takes, and prepare time and budget estimates.

Crews

Each call sheet has an assigned crew. Make as many different crews as suits your project and needs.

Costs use the default value set on the PARAMS page unless the assigned person has a daily cost in their People record.

The default crew is used for estimates whenever a specific crew is not assigned.

Call Sheets

There are many great things about the Call Sheets page:

  • The Email button sends a weblink to an always up to date version of this call sheet to all of the actors and crew scheduled to participate
  • Updates made while shooting are immediately available to everyone on the shoot.
  • Cast and crew that haven’t signed contracts are flagged on the blue scene box AND on the actor’s info.
  • Time required for each scene is calculated from the scene and shot information. "Move time" checks for a location change or a move on location.
  • Start time and hours required to shoot the scene can be overriden (background color changes to show the esimate is yours).
  • Breaks can be scheduled (the Add Break button).
  • Assign the crew on the call sheet.
  • Full list of props and wardrobe for each scene.
  • Scene order easily changed using the UP button on each scene.

Here is a sample of the Actor Info section from the call sheet.

Take Log

Capture notes, quality, or mark as trash while keeping track of each take. Automatically increments the video and audio file numbers to keep them in synch.
